Rachel Klein | 2Rev Coach

Rachel is currently a Specialist of Antiracist Pedagogy with the Department of Diversity, Equity, and Poverty (DEP) in Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS). Prior to serving in this and similar roles for DEP, she spent a decade in the middle school English language arts classroom. This is where she honed her stance on pedagogy, and extended her understanding of how it functions in equitable ways across diverse experiences, perspectives, and identities. Upon moving in her roles in DEP, she extended her understanding of effective culturally responsive pedagogy through research, attendance at conferences, the co-development of the Affirming Racial Equity Tool, completion of both religious inclusion and equitable school leadership courses through Harvard University's graduate studies, her doctoral studies at the University of Louisville, and interactions with her colleagues and the local community. In her current role as an Antiracist Specialist, she and her team have defined antiracism in JCPS, and have been an integral part of annual progress-monitoring as it relates to the expectations for racially equitable practices as delineated in the JCPS Racial Equity Policy. In her personal life, Rachel is happily married; she and her husband enjoy camping, cooking, and reading with their daughter. She loves learning about plants and considers herself a self-taught naturalist who is always wanting to learn more about the interconnectedness of nature and the environment.
