Cynthia S. Millinger, M.Ed., is an educator and strategic consultant with over 20 years of experience accelerating student and organizational achievement. She is currently the Founder & CEO of Strategy for Good, where she supports nonprofit leaders, including microschool founders, in evaluating and transforming their programs to maximize impact and fully realize their missions. Cynthia’s approach is collaborative and data-driven, with a focus on respecting the experiences and power of each leadership team. By capitalizing on staff strengths and valuing community partnerships, she finds opportunities for efficiency, growth, and financial sustainability.
Previously Cynthia was the Founder & CEO of Charter School Essentials, where she remotely managed and led a team of 7 subcontractors to guide performance improvement in K-12 charter schools and nonprofit charter support organizations in 8 states. In this role she observed and coached teachers, mentored leaders, and designed and implemented effective improvement plans in dozens of urban charter schools. Through her strategic guidance, each charter school saw a rise in test scores, including a New Jersey middle school whose NJ ASK math scores increased by 24%, the 5th highest annual increase in the state.
As CEO, Cynthia anticipated the demand for Common Core Standards implementation support and was first-to-market in creating and facilitating a series of engaging workshops on K-12 Common Core instruction for thousands of educators in 8 states, including FL, GA, SC, TN, MI, DC, NY, and NJ. She led a multi-year assessment project for the DC Office of the State Superintendent, and she was a lead school evaluator for the Charter Schools Institute at the State University of New York. Cynthia has also served as the lead academic charter school consultant for charter support organizations in Maryland, Michigan, New York, and DC.
An experienced writer, Cynthia has co-authored several publications on implementing practical education reforms. She is a magna cum laude graduate of Duke University, where she was recognized for her thesis work on principal leadership and North Carolina's educational policy. Cynthia taught English and math in Washington, DC and earned her master's degree in Middle School Education.
A longtime weekly volunteer at Mercer Street Friends Food Bank and HomeFront’s adult GED tutoring program, Cynthia is passionate about social justice in her community. She currently resides in central New Jersey with her husband and two teenagers. In her free time she enjoys tackling puzzles of all kinds, baking, and playing outside with the family dog.
