Carey Jackson | 2Rev Coach
Carey is passionate about education and making learning a culturally-informed, anti-racist, and joyful experience for all. Her main academic interests have always been “people,” so she majored in Anthropology and minored in Women and Gender Studies at Princeton University. After working in Operations and Community Engagement at a K-8th grade school in Harlem, Carey completed a Master’s in Secondary Social Studies Education at Columbia University, Teachers College. Carey has taught middle and high school social studies at The Bronx High School of Science and The Hewitt School in NYC, as well as at Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C. She is certified in Learning & Development, Learning Experience Design, and Project Management. Most of all, Carey is ardently enthusiastic about the power of involving emotion, humor, and drama in student-centered lesson design. In 2015 Carey began a small curriculum development company producing social studies curricular materials. She serves on the Advisory Board of Guatemala’s Colegia Maya International School and is completing an MBA program at Boston University’s Questrom School of Business.
Carey currently lives in Guatemala with her husband, who is a U.S. diplomat, and their three children. Her spare time is filled with reading, musical theater, cooking, violin, and spending many hours on the sidelines of children’s soccer fields.
