About the Position

2Revolutions is seeking a Managing Director- Partnerships to provide key organizational leadership to build new and sustain existing partnerships for the organization across our core offerings of Communities of Practice; Graduate Programs; Statewide Transformation; and Content Licensing.

In order to do this work as the organization continues to grow, we have recognized the need for a seasoned leader who has experience leading in some aspect of K12 education (i.e., schools, districts, state agencies, or innovative for/not-for-profit organizations) This role will be part of the organization leadership team and will be supervised directly by the CEO.  Strong candidates will have a track record of leadership, entrepreneurship, and alignment with the values that we hold dear as an organization- joy, impact, learning, humility, and entrepreneurship.

This role is capable of inspiring and leading internally within the organization and externally among  2Revolutions’ strategic and client partnerships. This role is critical in helping to shape and grow mission-aligned, mutually beneficial partnerships with a myriad of organizations around the premise that strategic partnerships can meaningfully expand and deepen our social impact. The Managing Director- Partnerships will help to set the vision, and execute against the vision with evidence of social impact and financial growth. The focus of this role is to build sustainable and dynamic relationships with other organizations to continue to innovate and positively impact K12 education, with the intent of expanding high-quality learner-centered education while minimizing barriers to that work.

The role will require core competencies in developing and sustaining mutually beneficial partnerships, relationship management, and strategic planning. As a social venture, it is critical that this person has a track record of growing teams that yield social impact and financial success.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees required (or ability to demonstrate competency), preferably in relevant field(s)

  • 15+ years of professional experience (or ability to demonstrate competency) with demonstrated success in a leadership role within one or more of the above-described domains.

  • Demonstrated leadership navigating growth; inspiring teams; seeding, scaling, and managing complex partnerships; and helping to scale social ventures.

Desired Competencies

Depending on the role, you will be able to demonstrate a portfolio of some of the following competencies and make the argument why your combination of these competencies will be an accelerant for both of 2Revolutions’ primary metrics- social impact at the state/district/school levels and financial growth as an organization.

  • Entrepreneurial Orientation: You are a self-starter with a high degree of comfort with ambiguity and frequent iteration; you’re excited by tackling complex problems without clear solutions and prefer learning by doing. Your orientation manifests itself as strategic thinking and the ability to operationalize ideas as well as ability to make new connections and envision creative possibilities.

  • Relational Leadership: You build authentic relationships easily, leading with your humanity and building trust based on actions and respect.  When you work with others, you are not “selling a solution” but instead helping to solve problems or collaboratively developing an opportunity.

  • Project Leadership: You’re a strategic thinker and operator, with an ability to “switch” between high-level strategy and operational realities to get the work done. Ability to manage in all directions; you also develop and build strong teams, maximizing impact and ensuring alignment to 2Rev values.

  • Strategic Communications: You have a deep understanding of why 2Rev does the work it does, how 2Rev executes and the impact that comes from the work and you can mobilize a team to effectively tell the story of the work and the learning.  You understand the K12 market and can engage a variety of different roles in that market through multiple channels.

  • Facilitation: You’re able to quickly establish a positive, learning-oriented culture in group settings that encourages individuals and groups to engage at the edge of their learning. You can rapidly adjust facilitation styles and techniques in order to accommodate for the real-time needs of adult learners.

  • Equity Orientation: You employ an equity lens to identify and act upon opportunities to redesign for equity in internal and external contexts, keeping the mission of our work to support all learners, particularly those further from opportunity, at the center of your work. You can skillfully design and facilitate group conversations and learning experiences related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Additional Knowledge, Skills & Mindsets

  • You are driven by a passion to radically improve the experiences of students and educators in service of helping to transform the American public education system

  • You have a genuine willingness to engage in important conversations in order to better understand oneself and others in the context of historical and present-day inequities

  • You consistently demonstrate a desire to learn and grow, where mutual feedback is viewed as a gift

  • You bring a deep knowledge and understanding of K-12 education systems and policy landscape (within and across regions) and how they impact local contexts.

  • You are a clear and effective communicator (both written and verbal), and you’re exceptional at sharing, translating, and directing information to teams and partners in a virtual and blended work context.

  • You’re an enthusiastic collaborator, and a positive team player, and you have a willingness to “do what it takes” in support of the collective effort

  • Willingness to work virtually, with moderate travel
